As we previously reported, there are currently two front-runners to host WrestleMania 31. Santa Clara, California is one as WWE’s grand spectacle would be held at Levi’s Stadium, the new stadium for the San Francisco 49ers which will be able to hold over 75,000 people. The stadium is not yet finished, but it would be ready once WrestleMania 31 rolls along.
The other city considered to be making a push to host WrestleMania 31 is Philadelphia. The city recently hosted this year’s edition of Money in the Bank. The event would likely take place at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles. In comparison to Levi’s Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field holds 7,000 less people as its capacity is just over 68,000.
With these reports surfacing, 6ABC.com spoke to the Philadelphia Sports Congress about the push to host WrestleMania 31. Philadelphia Sports Congress said the following:
“While it is not our policy to discuss ongoing bid efforts, the Sports Congress and our area partners are in constant dialogue with the WWE about hosting their various major events, including WrestleMania and many others. Philadelphia has a long-standing history of partnering with the WWE in hosting countless events, and we look forward to continuing that partnership moving.”
