On the Sept. 2 showing of “Main Event,” which can be seen live on the WWE Network, WWE wasted no time in confirming another match for “Night of Champions.” The show kicked off with a MizTV segment, featuring Damien Sandow (Mizdow) filling in for MizTV’s regular host, The Miz.
Mizdow began by informing the audience that Miz was in Los Angeles, Calif. for a “Fast & Furious” photo shoot. Dolph Ziggler soon interrupted, in order to join Mizdow on MizTV. The two verbally clashed, eventually leading to the two coming to blows and an impending match. Throughout their verbal battle, Mizdow confirmed the “Night of Champions” match, guaranteeing that Miz wold win.
The two would go on to have a one-on-one match, which Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler won.
With the match being confirmed, there are now three matches on the “Night of Champions” match card. It joins a United States Championship bout between Sheamus and Cesaro, in addition to the main event between John Cena and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.
At WWE’s last pay-per-view, “SummerSlam,” Ziggler defeated then Intercontinental Champion The Miz in the latter’s first title defense since taking home the gold at “Battleground.”
Editor’s Note
It will be interesting to see where WWE goes from here. I expect Ziggler to retain, but what will Sandow’s role be? He has been teasing a change in his status.
