Following one of the most fascinating transformations, former German goalkeeper Tim Wiese is ready to make the unusual jump from soccer to the world of professional wrestling and sports entertainment. Wiese had a 14-year career as a goalkeeper in three professional German soccer leagues: Regionalliga Nord, Regionalliga Süd, and Bundesliga. Wiese was even part of Germany’s 2010 World Cup squad, which captured the bronze medal.
In January of 2014, Wiese had his contract with his last club, Hoffenheim, mutually terminated. Since then, Wiese took up bodybuilding.
The ensuing transformation speaks for itself.
Then:
Now:
Wiese spoke to German tabloid Bild about his change in appearance, noting that he received an offer from WWE.
Below are his word’s to the tabloid, as translated by The Guardian:
“I have an official enquiry from WWE. It’s about working for them as a wrestler. I will listen. I don’t s**t my pants. Why should I immediately say no? Wrestling is very popular, especially in the [United] States. I will go through the enquiry with my agent next week.”
According to The Guardian, it has been suggested that Wiese would first spend time in developmental territory, NXT, perhaps for about a year. Afterwards, WWE could very well utilize him as its lead wrestler for Germany, where citizens can now see WWE programming on free-to-air television for the first time in about 12 years.
Editor’s Note
My god, what a transformation. Wiese should fit in well with WWE, as he already knows how to flop.
