On July 21, 2014, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, the premiere Alternative Press Music Awards will occur. On the press release for the event, two stars received top-billing: CM Punk and former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, Slash.
Slash will be the first recipient of the Guitar Legend Award, an honor presented by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Punk, on the other hand, will be co-hosting a red carpet pre-show on AXS TV. It will begin at 5:00 p.m. EST on the day of the event, and Punk will be joined by Juliet Simms, a runner-up on NBC’s “The Voice.”
In the press release, the “Best in the World” is billed as “CM Punk.” His appearance is referred to as, “one of his first public appearances since he stepped away from his many years in the squared circle.”
Punk commented on his appearance, noting him with a live microphone is always interesting:
“Well, I’m actually stoked to get out of the house and get gussied up for the first-ever Gibson Brands AP Music Awards, fueled by Monster Energy Drink. Red carpets and me don’t mix, so I figure it’ll be a perfectly hilarious night with friends and a live microphone—my favorite! Be there and be square!”
The event will occur following CM Punk’s contract with WWE expiring on July 17. Despite AJ Lee, his wife, returning to WWE, his status with WWE has remained unchanged.
Editor’s Note
I had no idea such an event was taking place. Though, as a rock music and CM Punk fan, it’s something I may have to check out now.
