As we previously reported, this afternoon on Thursday, June 12, WWE released ten members of its talent, eight WWE Superstars, one Diva, and one referee. A fair share of the releases came as a shock to many due to the timing of the announcement. For example, Aksana was on “Monday Night Raw” on June 9, only to be released three days later.
Another one of the more notable releases was Brodus Clay, who competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX. Clay would be eliminated by The Great Khali on the grandest stage in sports entertainment.
Shortly before WrestleMania, Brodus Clay made his return to NXT on April 3, 2014. After besting Xavier Woods, Clay announced that he would challenge NXT Champion Adrian Neville on the April 17 edition of the program. Clay came up short on April 17 and once again on May 1 in his attempts to claim championship gold.
Shortly after WWE announced its releases, Brodus Clay took to his Twitter account (@BrodusClay) to comment on the matter.
Below are Clay’s tweets:

Editor’s Note
I was shocked to see Clay released by WWE. While he was getting up there in age, there was a point in time in which Clay was able to draw in a great number of merchandise sales for the company. In the end, WWE’s decision to turn him heel likely spelled the end for Clay. We here at WrestlingRumors.net wish Clay the best in his future endeavors.
