There are a ton of rumors surrounding WrestleMania 33 and its potential card — Undertaker vs. John Cena, AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon, Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman, and Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens are all rumored to be taking place on April 2. But, while all of those matches will undoubtedly be huge if they happen, none of them are scheduled to be the main event of WWE’s biggest show of the year.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez mentioned that the Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match will be the main event of WrestleMania 33. Additionally, Cageside Seats is reporting that the Goldberg vs. Lesnar match is scheduled to go on last.
Typically, the main event of WrestleMania is a title match. So, we could end up seeing either Lesnar or Goldberg capture WWE gold prior to April 2, which will lead to their match being for the Universal Championship.
Goldberg is scheduled to appear and wrestle on the Fastlane card, so he could win the Universal Championship on that show.
Also, prior to that, Brock Lesnar could win the Royal Rumble match.
Of course, WWE may just feel that Lesnar vs. Goldberg is the biggest match on the WrestleMania 33 card, which is why they, at the moment, have it penciled in as the show’s main event.
