There has been a lot of speculation about TNA Wrestling’s future in the industry. It’s no secret that the company is in a lot of financial trouble, and they’re struggling to find investors to keep it the brand going.
A recent update reported TNA has entered negotiations with Summit Strategic Investments about a potential partnership. However, there is another familiar partner that has potentially entered the TNA sweepstakes.
According to a report from Wrestlezone.com, the parent company that owns Ring of Honor, Sinclair Broadcasting might be making the move to purchase TNA Wrestling as well.
At the very least, Sinclair Broadcasting has shown interest in acquiring TNA Wrestling and their interest is tied to the promotions’ large tape library and their international deals.
As of this writing, there has been no sale and TNA is still speaking with many other companies. However, one of the major hold-ups in negotiations with investors have been Dixie Carter insisting on holding a majority stake in the company after the sale.
It’s also being reported that a big reason for Sinclair Broadcasting being interested in buying TNA is their intention of rebranding the Tennis Channel as The American Sports Network, which would include the network expanding its sports content. That will likely prove to be a good place for ROH and possibly TNA.
Do you think it’s a good idea for Sinclair Broadcasting to purchase TNA Wrestling?
