The WWE Universe is most likely going to select the “Hell in a Cell” match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker as the match of the year. On that list, it’s vert worthy of the award.
Unfortunately for me, WWE didn’t even nominate the match of the year. It should come as no surprise that the rivalry of the year as far as I’m concerned would also have the match of the year.
Sasha Banks vs. Bayley by MrCena456
There is more emotion and more on the line in this match than there was for any other match in WWE this year. Banks vs. Bayley was my favorite rivalry of the year and as great as their match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn was, their match at NXT Takeover: Respect is far more important.
This match was for women’s wrestling and proving it should be held on the same standard as any other match. Banks vs. Bayley II was not only the first Ironwoman match in WWE history, but it was the first time two women had main evented and headlined a major WWE event.
In addition to proving the worth and respect for women’s wrestling, this match represents what makes wrestling great. There was a great heel vs. a great face, emotional storytelling in the ring and the ending that showed the comradery and the family behind the curtain that we rarely get to see.
Bayley vs. Sasha Banks was something incredibly special. Sometimes it isn’t easy to see what’s most important at the time. But someday, we’ll be able to look back and remember the importance of Banks vs. Bayley.
