Yesterday, I asked the question, “What’s next for Sheamus?” It’s a good question because he’s got a high-profile movie coming out in a few weeks and he’s nowhere to be found.
Of course, he should be featured on WWE programming after “Extreme Rules”, but all that press for TMNT will be over in less than two weeks. What’s he going to do after that and who is he going to feud with next?
Only time will tell, but it looks like WWE made a mistake bringing Apollo Crews to the main roster so quickly after a lackluster run in NXT.
I don’t consider it lackluster because of anything he did, but he didn’t do very much. He had some matches, lost a feud to Baron Corbin, and challenged Finn Balor in a few matches. He is capable of much more and frankly, he needs to develop as a character a lot more before people start getting behind him.
It seems that he’s going to remain on the main roster, so he’s going to have to learn quickly. He needs quality wins over good opponents, which is where I think Sheamus comes in after “Extreme Rules.”
In my mind, there is something very cool about Crews vs. Sheamus. I think that is a very interesting feud that pits a young kid against a veteran. A very powerful and physical wrestler against an agile and athletic one, and I think it’s a feud that could help both of them.
A lot of people may not consider Sheamus, a top guy, and he’s not going to be the most popular wrestler of all time, but few are going to argue against his ability and his accomplishments rival almost anyone.
Even having a really good midcard feud with Sheamus would give Crews a legitimacy as a face. If he were able to win a few matches, that could skyrocket his momentum to challenge for a midcard title and then we’re off and running.
For Sheamus, it allows him to be a dominate heel. It’s a fresh feud with an impressive worker, and it’ll keep him busy until another feud presents itself.
Apollo Crews vs. Sheamus is really a win-win for everyone. It’s a good feud, and those should always be welcome and get television time.
Do you think Apollo Crews vs. Sheamus is a good idea?
