The match in question aired last night. Early on in the match, Neville worked on Rusev’s arm. Rusev sold the arm and continued to do so for the rest of the match. At the end of the match, Neville hit a springboard dropkick that sent him to the floor and he sold the injury even more.
There was a commercial break at that point and when the event resumed Rusev was still holding his arm. The referee checked on him and trainers came in the ring to assist. The bell rang shortly afterward and Neville was announced the winner by medical stoppage. As of his writing, there is no blame on Neville for the injury.
What made the situation even more interesting is after the match, Rusev went to ringside to yell at the timekeeper and throw a tantrum at him and eventually at ring announcer Eden. It is speculated that Rusev was told to throw a post-match tantrum to kill enough time that was lost due to Rusev’s injury.
Multiple sources have reported the injury is legitimate. An injury seems to be a part of a break up for Rusev. Earlier this year, Lana broke up with him on screen only to suffer a broken foot. Just a few weeks ago, Summer Rae dumped him on Raw and now Rusev has a torn bicep.
WWE has not confirmed the injury as of this writing, but this may be a blessing in disguise for Rusev and Lana to reunite when they both heal and start fresh in 2016. It’s likely Rusev won’t return until the Royal Rumble.
