Naturally, it was only a matter of time until more came out of the rumor and today an update has been reported by the Wrestling Observer.
According to the Wrestling Observer, it will be extremely unlikely for Jeff Hardy to return to WWE in 2016.
The obvious path was not only to sign Jeff but also his brother Matt Hardy to reform the Hardy Boyz in WWE once again. Although, Jeff Hardy would do very well in WWE as a singles competitor, the condition of his body is going to stall a potential WWE return for the time being.
Hardy is in need of another knee surgery. That surgery will most likely keep him out of the ring until late 2016.
It isn’t yet known how long he’ll be out of action since that depends on the success of the surgery. However, Jeff has been telling friends that he will have to tone down his in-ring style significantly. That isn’t surprising given the grueling amount of damage Jeff has done to his body over the years.
Despite this update, both Jeff and Matt Hardy’s contracts with TNA expire over the next few months. Wrestling inside a WWE ring may be unlikely, but WWE could sign them both to legends contracts, or allow them to be reunited in Dallas during Wrestlemania 32 for a WWE Hall of Fame induction of The Hardy Boyz.
