WWE no doubt considers 2015’s edition of Tough Enough a great success. Sure, the “contest” didn’t generate the greatest show every week, and it became a popularity contest. However, WWE ended up signing a lot of young talent that has reported to the WWE Performance Center, been featured on Breaking Ground

However, WWE ended up signing a lot of young talent that has reported to the WWE Performance Center, been featured on Breaking Ground and are training to become WWE Superstars. The show did its job.

What’s been interesting is to see why WWE has signed some talent from the competition and not others. For example, a new report has come out recently on why WWE signed Daria Berenato.

Daria was signed relatively quickly, and she’s been training down at the WWE Performance Center since the show ended. There are at least two reasons that WWE decided to give Berenato a deal when others were passed over.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Berenato was signed because WWE’s celebrity friend Maria Menounos called in a favor because she is a longtime friend of Daria and was a co-worker on Afterbuzz TV.

The other reason Berenato was signed because WWE wanted an openly gay female on their roster.

Regardless of the reason, Daria has the nickname of the “Jersey Devil” nickname at WWE NXT Live Events. Because of her background in professional fighting, NXT has given her an MMA look and gimmick.

Daria got her foot in the door. Now, it is up to her to kick it down.
