Add another one to the list. We’re getting very close to Hell In A Cell and that means the card needs to be finalized in a hurry. The majority of it is already set but there are one or two things that still need to be locked up. One of those things is New Day needing challengers for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, and with five days to go until the pay per view, they now have them.
On this week’s SmackDown Live, Rusev Day defeated the Bar to become the new #1 contenders for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles by winning a mini tournament. Their match will take place this Sunday at Hell In A Cell, which will be Rusev Day’s first shot at the titles since December when they challenged for the titles in a four way match at Clash Of Champions.
Here’s how they got it done.
Opinion: That’s an actual surprise as I would have bet on the Bar getting the shot, since that tends to be their custom. It’s very nice to have this thrown out there instead as Rusev Day has been a fun act for a long time now. I’m not sure if they’ll actually get the titles, but it’s cool to see the chance that something might actually happen. If nothing else I can’t imagine the New Day being presented as long term champions anyway.
Do you think the titles will change hands? If New Day survives, who takes the titles from them? Let us know in the comments below.
