Time to heal. Professional wrestling is a very physical sport, as wrestlers are in the ring in hands on contact, which can lead to some serious health issues for the people involved. You can see someone face some major long term problems and those can require a lot of medical help. That is the case again with a major star, and now we know how we reached this point.

This weekend, Jon Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson to win the AEW World Title at WrestleDream, with Danielson saying that it would be the end of his full time in-ring career. According to Fightful Select, Danielsonā€™s contract with AEW has expired, but he is not expected to return to WWE. AEW is hoping that Danielson will wrestle occasionally and possibly work backstage, though he is likely facing neck surgery first.

While Danielson has wrestled in various top level matches in recent months, he reportedly believed that he should have not taken part in some of them by the time he reached WrestleDream. Danielson had wanted to lose the title to Moxley and the idea of Danielson taking the title from Swerve Strickland at All In had been planned for several months. There is no word on when Danielson will undergo surgery or possibly return to the ring, or even AEW TV.

Danielson has been outstanding in AEW. Check out what he has done in the company:

Opinion: This is one of those things where it was a big deal, but having the stipulation be that Danielson is mostly done with wrestling rather than entirely does make things feel a bit less impactful. Iā€™m sure Danielson will wrestle again when he is healthy, though that could take a long time. It was certainly an emotional moment though and that is exactly what it needed to be.
