What could have been. A wrestler’s name is one of the most important parts of their career. If someone’s ring name is not going to live up to a certain standard, it can cause quite the set of problems. Occasionally you will see someone change their ring name to something when they make a major move in their career, but now we know what the original plans were going to be.

Earlier this month, it was reported that WWE had filed a trademark for the name “Caesar Sikoa”. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the name was going to be used for Jacob Fatu, who debuted last week on SmackDown under his normal name. WWE still has the name trademarked and could use it for another wrestler if they choose to go in that direction going forward.

Opinion: The more I’m thinking about this, the happier I am with the decision. Caesar Sikoa is a good name, but Fatu has enough of a reputation that people would have just called him Fatu anyway. There is a lot of value in having the right name and that is what we have here, as the Fatu name is a rather god name and probably better than the Sikoa alternative.
