He’ll miss them. There are all kinds of people who come together to make any given wrestling broadcast work. While the most important names are the ones who get in the ring, there are several prominent names who are better known for their voices. One of them will be stepping away from their role for a good while, but he has left with something of a parting gift.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Planning Major Match For The Bloodline

This week on Monday Night Raw, Michael Cole announced that Pat McAfee would be stepping away from the broadcast booth for the duration of the upcoming college football season. WWE has uploaded a video showing McAfee saying goodbye to the crowd and thanking a variety of people who help to bring the WWE shows together. This included the wrestlers, the creative team, the makeup team, the production staff and more. McAfee is expected to return to WWE in January.

That was nice. Check out the speech, plus some of McAfee in WWE:

Opinion: McAfee is a polarizing figure to say the least but it is smart of WWE to capitalize on what they have with him. It makes sense for WWE to use one of the most prominent broadcasters in all of sports today and if McAfee is happy with the whole thing, it’s a positive for both. McAfee’s seat will be waiting for him in January and he seems to be that big of a fan, so why not?
