The crossing over continues. Wrestling and mixed martial arts tend to go hand in hand, with athletes from both sports moving across the lines to try their hand in the other arena. Some of these are much more successful than others, but sometimes you know that someone is going to be good at what they do. That was the case with a former wrestler who was in a fight on Saturday night.
Saturday night at Bellator 221, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jake Hager, better known as Jack Swagger, defeated TJ Jones by submission with an arm triangle choke in 2:36. The win improves Hager’s mixed martial arts record to 2-0, though this win was a bit controversial as Hager did not let go of his submission hold as Jones tapped out. The fans loudly booed him during his post-fight interview, which you can see below, along with the end of the fight.
This isn’t the best look. Check out the post fight interview:
Opinion: The end of the fight didn’t look good and somewhat overshadowed Hager’s dominant performance. That being said, Jones didn’t exactly come off as a major threat to Hager, who has looked impressive in his two fights to date. I’m curious to see how far he can take his career, but he can’t keep doing something like that at the end of his fights as it won’t go well for him.
What did you think of Hager’s performance? How successful can he be in mixed martial arts? Let us know in the comments below.
