They’re not done yet. Attending a wrestling event live is a special moment and not something that every fan gets to experience very often. It can be even better if the event is televised, as you get to see things that the masses have to miss. Some of these things come after the show goes off the air, and that was the case again after quite the big time main event.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s A Lot: WWE Is Currently On Incredibly Impressive Streak (With Numbers To Prove It)
The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Collision saw Maxwell Jacob Friedman successfully defend the World Title against Kenny Omega in a match that ran over half an hour. AEW has released a clip from after the show was over, showing Friedman and Omega talking. Friedman told a story of Omega mentoring him at a show when he was a rookie in wrestling. He also praised the founders of AEW, saying he would not be here without him.
Omega said that he was not sure if he was still the Best Bout Machine but felt that the future was safe in the hands of people like Friedman. Omega also said that he would be around for years to come before thanking the fans and closing out the show while saying that he would likely be at next week’s Dynamite.
It was a big deal. Check out the post match video, the match and the pre-match hype video:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes the match feel all the more special. Friedman has come a very long way during his time in AEW and it is always great to see someone of Omega’s status giving him that kind of a rub. Winning the match was one thing, but that kind of talking has quite the impact of its own. It should be interesting to see where they go from here and the two of them are off to a good start.
