They did a good job. There have been all kinds of wrestlers over the years, many of whom have never broken through to the next level. Those few who have are some of the most well remembered names in the history of the sport and it can be a big deal to have some of them around. They all had to start somewhere though and now of of the bigger names of the 90s is talking about who helped get him started.

WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and spoke about wrestlers who helped him while he was on the way up in WCW. Goldberg cited the Steiner Brothers, Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, Meng, the Barbarian and Bobby Eaton among other unnamed wrestlers.
At the same time, Goldberg said that there were others, who he did not name, who did not help him, saying that “emotions and egos and testosterone being thrown into it”. Goldberg also said that he became a big star and helped others make a lot of money, but he could not do that without the help on the way to the top. Goldberg debuted in WCW in 1997 and went on to win the World Title the following year.

Opinion: It’s always interesting to see which wrestlers had a hand in something like this, as Goldberg certainly became one of the biggest stars in wrestling in a short amount of time. That does not happen by accident and it is rather cool to hear someone give other wrestlers that kind of praise. They might not have been the bigger stars, but they helped the big star become what they were, which is rather important as well.
