He’s a fan. There are certain wrestlers who mostly wrap up their in-ring careers but continue to do something in the industry. This might be broadcasting, working on a show about wrestling or some combination of multiple times. In this case, a former WWE Superstar and current broadcaster has been offering some praise of a current top WWE prospect.

WWE Hall Of Famer and NXT broadcasters Booker T. spoke about NXT North American Champion Oba Femi on his Hall Of Fame Podcast. Booker compared Femi to Bill Goldberg, saying that the difference is Femi is learning how to work at a higher level, which he will need when he comes up to the main roster. Booker went on to say that Femi could work in any era, calling him a “generational talent”.

Here are Booker’s comments, with transcription courtesy of wrestlingnews.co:

“We haven’t seen a guy come along since Bill Goldberg. That’s the comparison I make with Oba Femi. Oba Femi is doing it differently of course. He’s actually getting some in ring time. He’s learning how to work because he’s gonna have to know how to work once he gets to the main roster and has to work with guys like Gunther and guys like Orton. When he gets to the main roster, he’s gonna have to know how to work and that’s the experience I think he’s getting opposed to what Goldberg did, take nothing away from Goldberg. He had a hell of a career, but this guy’s doing it to where he’s going to be able to go out there and perform at a very, very high level and really bring fans into the ring from a totally different perspective than Goldberg did. I mentioned how Oba Femi could work in the 70s to 80s to 90s to 2000s and beyond. He’s just that type of talent. He’s a generational type of talent.”

He might be on to something. Check out Femi’s limited career thus far:

Opinion: Femi is certainly a talent and having him come in and run through people is quite the thing to see. It is rather interesting to see just how far he can go as Femi has hit the ground running like few others. There is a chance that he could become a major force and Booker certainly sees a lot into him. Comparing him to Goldberg is quite the praise and Booker might be on to something.
