He would know. We’re coming up on “Wrestlemania XXXIII” and that means we’re seeing a lot of part time wrestlers appearing on the card. This turns into an annual discussion of whether or not these people belong on the show. One legend has weighed in on the topic and has a rather interesting take.
Shawn Michaels recently appeared on the “Ross Report” to discuss some Wrestlemania related topics, including the use of part timers (transcription courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com):
Sticking with the theme of part time wrestlers at “Wrestlemania XXXIII”, Michaels was asked about how long Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar should last:
“It is, it’s one of those, whatever the object that doesn’t move and the immovable force or however that saying goes. And I think they will, I think they’ll do their high-impact stuff, but the thing is, I think both of those guys are smart enough, they’ll get some mileage out of that and be able to tell a good story with that.” “I’m going to say, I think with those guys, they can tell a story, I mean, you might feel that it’s too much, but I feel like 17-ish, 15 to 17.”
Opinion: Michaels is spot on with the part timers but I’m not so sure on Goldberg vs. Lesnar. While I know there were special circumstances to the “Wrestlemania XX” match, it was a total disaster and didn’t even break fourteen minutes. The match is probably better off being short, albeit a bit longer than a minute and a half.
How long do you think Goldberg vs. Lesnar will go? How many part timers are too many? Let us know in the comments below.
