On Edge: Recent WWE Departure Reportedly Has Several Wrestlers Concerned About Their Futures

They’re not sure. Wrestling is like any other sport in that the athletes can be replaced at any time. If someone is not doing well enough for the promotion’s liking, there is a chance that they will be swapped out for someone else. There are times where you can see this coming but some of the changes can be rather surprising. That was the case this week and it is leading to some rough feelings.

Earlier this week, Damon Kemp announced that his time with WWE had come to an end as his contract was not renewed. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kemp’s contract not being renewed is causing worry among the rest of the NXT roster. While some contracts ending is no surprise due to one reason or another, Kemp was considered to be good for his level of experience with no known negatives. This has led wrestlers who are not top stars to worry about being cut or not having their deals renewed once they expire.

Opinion: It makes sense that some of the wrestlers are nervous as Kemp’s departure was quite the surprise. He was in a stable on NXT and seemed to be improving in various aspects, only to be allowed to walk away with little notice. The feeling of “who else could it happen to” is likely rather prevalent, especially if someone might not be as high up on the food chain.
