Never ever? There have been all kinds of matches throughout WWE’s history and the vast majority of them are fairly standard. That was not the case this week though, as something happened for the first time in WWE’s entire history, and on free television no less.

This week’s NXT opened with a casket match which saw Tatum Paxley defeat Wendy Choo. According to the show’s commentary, this marked the first time in WWE history that a casket match was held between two women. It was also one of less than five casket matches in company history that did not involve Undertaker or Kane. The stipulation was added at Halloween Havoc when Paxley Spun The Wheel to Make The Deal.

Opinion: This is one of those things that was probably not thought of until someone realized it one day and the match was set up. I’m not sure how many people were asking to see one, but it is nice to see another thing that had never been done before being checked off the list. There are only so many things left in such a list and WWE seems to enjoy knocking them off.
