I guess he isn’t impressed. Celebrities appearing at wrestling events has been a concept that has been around for decades. It can be interesting to see famous people from outside of the industry getting a chance to step inside the ring. Occasionally you will find someone who feels like a natural and looks quite good in the ring. That has been the case with a celebrity coming to WWE, but a former WWE star is not impressed.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Not A Fan: Former WWE Star Slams Logan Paul, Credits Shawn Michaels For Paul’s Success
Logan Paul wrestled his first match at WrestleMania 38 and went on to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at Crown Jewel in a losing effort. Paul’s matches have received positive reviews, citing his lack of experience. Former WWE star John Morrison spoke about Paul’s career during an appearance on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, saying that while Paul had good matches, a lot of it was due to his coaching from Shawn Michaels. Morrison also spoke about Paul’s knee injury and lack of love for wrestling. Here are some of his comments, with transcription courtesy of Inside The Ropes:
On Paul’s Knee Injury At Crown Jewel
“Here’s what I think of Logan Paul. Man, remember when he had that match, and he said he completely blew out his knee. All three ligaments, his ACL, PCL, MCL, and then come to find out like, he just kind of had a sore knee. Oh, man, poor guy. “I feel like he’s had three matches, he’s acting like, and a lot of people are acting like he’s God’s gift. And if he wanted to have, I’ve had close to 4000 matches. And I’ve torn both these for real like no MCL partially torn scope, scope, scope, partial ACL.”
On Paul Not Being A Full Time Wrestler
“If he wants to stay in the business and do it for real. Why doesn’t he talk about wrestling then? Because right now I think he’s getting a lot of help from the best minds in the business and pretending like he’s doing more of it than he is. Because without the help of the people surrounding I think Logan Paul falls flat on his face.
And On Paul Training With Shawn Michaels
“I don’t know if anyone’s had their first three matches rehearsed as much as he’s rehearsed his three matches either, especially like working one on one with Shawn Michaels. Who in the business can say that they worked for a month on one match with Shawn Michaels before they had that match. It’s no wonder it was a great match. He’s working with one of the best minds, best in-ring technicians and performers in the history of the business individually for a month for one match.”
Both of them are talented stars. Check out both of them in action:
Opinion: This is an interesting take to have, but I can see the issue from Morrison’s side. Morrison is someone who has worked away for years while Paul debuted less than a year ago and has praise heaped on him. There are all kinds of reason to appreciate Morrison’s talents and he is someone that a promotion can depend on a bit more frequently than Paul. At the same time, Paul is going to bring a lot of attention anywhere he goes because he has such a strong following. Both are strong suits, but Paul does certainly have talent and did not get where he is just because of his trainer.
