Hold Em Up: Update On AEW Tag Team Titles Following Revolution

Come and get them. There are all kinds of titles in wrestling and it can be a big deal when someone gets to hold the gold. It might be the first time ever or it might be someone getting a championship back. Just getting the chance to win a title is a big deal and now two people are going to have that kind of an opportunity after some rather special circumstances took place.

This weekend, Sting and Darby Allin successfully defended the AEW Tag Team Titles in the main event of Revolution. The match also served as Sting’s retirement match, meaning the titles’ future was in jeopardy. During the post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan announced that the titles would be vacated with a tournament being held to crown new champions. There were no further details given on the tournament.

Opinion: This does open up quite a few doors, as AEW has a rather deep tag team division. There are several viable options to win the titles and I could go for seeing what AEW puts together. At the same time, I could go for seeing the Young Bucks just declare themselves champions as they are still executive vice presidents with something of an obsession with flaunting their authority.
