Who’s ready to walk with the Drifter? After a few weeks of just wandering around the main roster, it was time for an NXT call-up to make his in-ring debut. This week on “Monday Night Raw”, General Manager Kurt Angle got tired of seeing a certain someone in the back every week and put him in the ring. Tonight, Elias Samson made his debut.
Samson actually defeated Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose in a non-title match via disqualification. After controlling most of the match, Samson won when the Miz interfered by hitting Samson once and not as hard as he could have. The idea was that Ambrose could lose by DQ very quickly, which would cost him the title to Miz at “Extreme Rules 2017”.
Opinion: The wrestling wasn’t the point with this match but that wasn’t ever the case with Samson down in NXT either. Just let him do his thing with the guitar and look intimidating. He doesn’t have to wrestle every week but it was smart to give him a win, even under these circumstances, to set up his debut.
