The locker room isn’t shrinking. Last year, the SmackDown Live after WrestleMania 33 was something special for one major reason. In addition to everything else that was going on, Shinsuke Nakamura made his long awaited main roster debut. Since then, Nakamura’s WWE run has been up and down, though he’s currently on an upswing as the United States Champion. However, his contract is coming up soon and you know what that might mean.
Dave Meltzer was recently asked on Twitter if Nakamura is heading back to Japan when his current WWE contract expires at the end of January. Meltzer flat out said that Nakamura will not be going back to Japan. Nakamura’s current title run is his first on the main roster after losing in higher profile feuds for the WWE Championship to both Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles.

Remember how he got here? Check out Nakamura’s still awesome debut on the main roster:
Opinion: Here’s the thing with Nakamura: while he might not have been the hottest thing in the promotion since he debuted on the main roster, he’s still capable of having an incredible match on any given night. There’s only so much that can be done against Mahal, who Nakamura was stuck with for months. He’s been running against the wind for a long time now and he’s worth keeping around on potential alone. If he wants to stay, WWE should keep him as long as they can.
What do you think of Nakamura’s time on the main roster? Will he ever be World Champion? Let us know in the comments below.
