Tis the season. We are less than a week away from WrestleMania 39 and the card is all but set. While there is still a chance that something else could be added, WWE seems to have set the storylines and match card up months ago. However, the plans that we are seeing are not exactly what was originally planned. Now we know where WWE was hoping to go when they were putting the show together.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It Looks Likely: WWE Legend Likely Returning To TV Soon Following Lengthy Absence
Last week on SmackDown, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler were announced for the women’s tag team showcase match at WrestleMania. According to Fightful Select, Rousey pushed for the match and the tag team in the first place. The original plans for Rousey would have called for her to defend the SmackDown Women’s Title against Raquel Rodriguez at the Royal Rumble and then Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania. At the same time, Charlotte would have challenged Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Title. The plans were changed in December, with Charlotte winning the title and being set to face Rhea Ripley instead.
The team does have some status. Check out Rousey and Baszler together:
Opinion: This would have made sense for Rousey, as she might have wanted to do something else for a change. If nothing else, it is interesting to see some fresh blood in the singles title scene as Rousey has been around the title picture for so long. Rousey and Baszler could be the dominant team that the women’s division needs and if they win the Tag Team Titles down the line, it could get even better.
What do you think of the idea? Which version would have been better? Let us know in the comments below.
