That has to be the last one right? With less than two weeks to go before this year’s Royal Rumble, most of the card is already set. We have a lot of the participants in both Royal Rumble matches set, but there’s a lot more to the card than that. In this case that means a variety of title matches and most of those have already been announced. However, there was one more to go.
This week on SmackDown Live, it was announced that United States Champion Rusev would be defending his United States Title against Shinsuke Nakamura. Rusev defeated Nakamura for the title to become a three time champion on the Christmas night edition of SmackDown Live to become a three time champion. Since then the two of them have feuded, with Nakamura causing injuries to Rusev’s wife Lana.
Nakamura can be quite rude. Here’s how the rematch was set up:
Opinion: You had to know this one was coming and that doesn’t make it a bad thing. Rusev has gotten a lot out of winning the title and he should hold it for a good while. The Rusev Day gimmick has a lot of legs left and there was nothing left for Nakamura to do with the title. This is the final blowoff to the thing, possibly with Lana helping Rusev retain the title.
Do you want Rusev to retain the title? Who should be the next challenger? Let us know in the comments below.
