One more joining the list. Last August, Aron Rex joined the “Impact Wrestling” roster as one of the hottest free agents in a long time. Rex had been incredibly over as Damien Sandow in WWE, especially as Miz’s stunt double (even though it was more along the lines of a stunt copy, as the stunt double is supposed to do a stunt for the person, not at the same time) and the question was what would happen with WWE.
I am not retired. @lmpactWrestIing was some of the most fun I have had in my career, great company. Just exploring other opportunities. ??

Later on Twitter, Rex did go on to say that he was NOT retiring.
Opinion: Well that certainly happened. Rex wasn’t even in “Impact Wrestling” for eight months before leaving already. The fact that he had three distinct characters in that stretch (Aron Rex: guy in trunks, heel Rex who cheated to win everything, Liberace character) is rather telling as well as it seems that they kept trying to find something to work for him. I wouldn’t call Rex’s “Impact Wrestling” run a failure but it certainly didn’t feel like the run of someone who was supposed to be a major player being held back by WWE.
