The first of many? Titles are on some of the most important parts of any wrestling promotion as they identify the best stars on the roster. Wrestlers who are holding championships are often those that the promotions wants to focus on the most and a gold title is an effective way to make that happen. This week, an inaugural champion was crowned.

According to Fightful Select, Candice LeRae defeated Iyo Sky to win the inaugural WWE Women’s Speed Title in a match that will air on a future episode of Speed. The match was the finals of a tournament which has taken place over the last few weeks to crown the first champion. Speed debuted earlier this year with the men’s title originally being crowned in April, though neither title is regularly mentioned on the main WWE television shows.

Meet the new champ. Check out LeRae in action:

Opinion: The Speed Title, and now the Women’s Speed Title, is one of the easiest concepts that WWE has today and it takes such minimal effort. The matches max out at five minutes so they aren’t even taking up that much time. LeRae is an interesting choice for the inaugural champion, but it isn’t like it is going to matter that much in the bigger WWE picture.
