Number 9- Shinsuke Nakamura
To some, Shinsuke Nakamura may come as a shock for this list. The multi-time NXT Champion has faced Jinder Mahal on ‘Smackdown Live’ for the WWE Championship and been in the main event of several pay-per-views. We get that.
As you will know, Nakamura never won that WWE Championship. He hasn’t won any of those main event matches. In fact, if anything his time on the main roster so far has been rather boring. That may be a tough pill for many fans to swallow, but it is the truth. He hasn’t impressed like he did elsewhere.
If you’ve been a fan or even followed Nakamura whilst he was in NXT or even NJPW you’ll most definitely be familiar with what he is capable of. In fact, even in his debut with the company against Sami Zayn in what was Zayn’s final NXT match was a match of the year candidate.
It is no secret that AJ Styles has told officials including Vince McMahon himself backstage how crucial a match between Nakamura and himself at ‘WrestleMania’ is. Given that Styles seems to have a strict date on when he intends to retire from the professional wrestling industry and is the current WWE Champion, it is very much likely that 2018 will see that match.
If he can shine, we are sure everyone can agree that Nakamura will be looked at as nothing but a star. With an incredible moveset and an insane amount of charisma, Nakamura has the majority of tools needed to be a star. The only possible problem he has is that due to the language barrier, he isn’t the best talker on the microphone.
There is no doubt that the Nakamura of 2017 and the Nakamura of 2018 will be completely unrecognisable. Once his stock begins to rise, which may potentially happen with a Royal Rumble victory, there is no stopping him.
