After hearing the news, former WWE superstar and current Ring of Honor Champion Cody “The American Nightmare” Rhodes had something to say. He said the following on Twitter:
Dear @MichaelPSHayes1
If you're afraid an event won't sell cuz' the holiday and want one of my Dad's events…at least book Goldy..
-Cody

Former ring announcer and wife to Cody, Brandi Rhodes also took to Twitter to explain that WWE never continued ‘Starrcade’ while Dusty was alive after he had created it and now they want to do it and give him no credit. Take a look:
Starrcade was created and delivered by Dusty Rhodes. WWE didn't want to do it while he was here. Now they want to do it and not give credit? pic.twitter.com/5ZLsoptjHE

WWE agent and producer Michael PS Hayes responded to Cody’s tweet, saying the following:
So Cody, UR right we should have Goldy on the show, by the way, what R U doing that night??? Wanna team with UR Brother?

It is unknown if this is a ‘rib’ or if Hayes and WWE do wish to have Cody Rhodes join them in some capacity for the show, despite him being under contract with another promotion.
Now if this does indeed happen, it is therefore likely to assume that Ring of Honor will get something in return. This may be one of the WWE talent coming back to Ring of Honor for a match or appearance.
WWE and Ring of Honor do have a working relationship to an extent, though with contract disputes over the past few years it is unclear as to how tethered that rope really is.
Additionally, details are subject to change and WWE will likely reference Dusty Rhodes throughout the pay-per-view.
If you want to step back in time, we highly suggest you watch this match between Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair for the NWA World Championship at ‘Starrcade’.
