Marella confirmed his retirement on July 6 of 2014 at a house show in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Not long before, he opened the Battle Arts Academy in September 2013.
He announced on June 17 of this year that he was intent on coming out of retirement for one last match at Destiny World Wrestling. This runs using facilities at the Battle Arts Academy. A match was scheduled for August 27 where Marella was expected to team with Alberto El Patron against RJ City and Johnny Playboy.
