As noted on Wrestling Rumors, Vince McMahon’s comments on “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s podcast about grabbing the “brass ring” in order to become WWE’s next big superstar have been making the rounds.
Several WWE performers have commented on the supposed “brass ring,” including WWE Network commentator Alex Riley, who posted cryptic tweets Tuesday about his position in the company. Roman Reigns even noted in when accepting the Slammy Award for “Superstar of the Year” on “Monday Night Raw.”
According to a new report from PWInsider, WWE talent apparently believe the comment by McMahon is essentially a joke at this point. It is well known McMahon makes all the final decisions on talent, and no matter what they do, it ultimately boils down to what he thinks.
In addition, the outlet claims many feel McMahon won’t blame himself for any of the criticism WWE programming has taken as of late, alongside the state of the company in regards to the WWE Network and its stock. The “brass ring” is merely seen as a way to motivate the stars, but it in the end is all at the helm of McMahon.
McMahon has not appeared on WWE television since the interview, though he has been referenced multiple times for the comments.
Editor’s Note
Well that’s the thing. It really does boil down to him entirely. The best guys can do is try and position themselves.
