For the past several months, WWE has offered the WWE Network free of charge for new subscribers per month. It appears that will be the trend once more for July, as the company announced the following on its website:
“New subscribers to the award-winning WWE Network can sign up now and get the first month free! During the month of July, WWE Network subscribers can watch the historic live special Brock Lesnar: The Beast in the East Live from Tokyo, WWE Battleground, all new episodes of WWE Swerved, NXT and Tough Talk, and much more.
Like other digital subscription services, such as Netflix and Hulu Plus, fans are able to sign up for WWE Network online by going to WWE.com/wwenetwork, and can watch WWE Network on their TVs through connected devices such as Sony PlayStation 3, Sony PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku streaming devices, as well as Smart TVs, including Sony and Samsung. The U.S. English language version of WWE Network is available direct to consumers in more than 170 countries and territories.
WWE Network’s one-of-a-kind programming includes all 12 WWE pay-per-view events LIVE at no additional charge, plus groundbreaking original series, reality shows, documentaries, classic matches, exclusive coverage of special events and more than 3,000 hours of video-on-demand content.”
As noted, this will likely be the status quo going forward for WWE, as it attempts to hook new subscribers each month. WWE is expected to hold quarterly live events exclusive to the network in order to bring in new subscribers, and announced a plethora of new programming just following WrestleMania.
WWE will air the network special broadcast from Tokyo, Japan on July 4, as Brock Lesnar makes his return to the WWE live event circuit for the first time in more than 10 years.
Editor’s Note
I expect this to continue going forward. It’s not a bad thought.
