Last month, it was reported WWE had decided to make a change to its creative team. The company signed former Ring of Honor star Jimmy Jacobs to a contract that would see him involved with the creative side of wrestling, effectively ending his in-ring career in the short-term at least.
In the newest version of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provides an update to exactly what Jacobs’ job in WWE will be.
It had been speculated Jacobs would head down to NXT and start working his way up on the creative staff in Tampa, Florida. However, it appears this will not be the case, as Jacobs has been ordered to report to WWE’s main headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. This means Jacobs will primarily be working with the main roster, including “Monday Night Raw” and “Thursday Night Smackdown” programming.
The move may surprise some, as Jacobs has not worked in creative on a major level before. It seems though he was hired to make an immediate impact on the main roster from a creative standpoint, adding in a former wrestler combined with the hoards of Hollywood writers and others from different backgrounds.
Editor’s Note
Love this move. The NXT environment would have been too familiar for him. His input will be great on the main roster.
