WWE has had its fair share of legal issues as of late, as several talent from over the years recently made the decision to file lawsuits against the company. The court cases stem from alleged damages caused by WWE in regards to the performers, whom believe they are suffering from long-term health effects as a result of what they did for the company.
In news brought to light by PWInsider, it appears the courts responsible for overhearing the lawsuits have consolidated the cases. A portion of the report reads:
So, all the lawsuits brought by Billy Jack Haynes, Ryan Sakoda, Evan Singleton, Vito LoGrasso, Matt Wiese (Luther Reigns) and Russ McCullough have been consolidated into one case before one Judge. The lawsuit WWE brought against Blackjack Mulligan, Dynamite Kid, Ivan Koloff and Koko B. Ware has also been consolidated into the same court case.
The lawsuit brought by McCullough, Sakoda and Wiese has been named the primary suit in the matter by the presiding Judge.
Alongside, it is mentioned WWE is working towards progressing in two other suits:
“WWE is still working to get the lawsuits filed by the estates of Matt Osbourne (Matt Borne, filed in Texas) and Nelson Frazier Jr. (Big Daddy V, filed in Tennessee) sent over to Connecticut as well after their attorney Konstantine W. Kyros declined to refile the cases in Connecticut.”
The consolidation of the lawsuits is helpful to WWE, in that it will now move the cases to Connecticut. As many are aware, WWE’s main headquarters are located in Stamford, Connecticut, which means by moving the cases closer to HQ, WWE will have an easier time appropriately addressing them.
It is unknown if the cases for the estates will be consolidated as well, though it is likely WWE will attempt to do so in some sort of fashion.
Editor’s Note
I’m no legal expert, but I would think WWE will be OK with these given the profession these men willingly put themselves into.
