It has been a rough several weeks for WWE Superstar Stardust. Stardust, also popularly known as Cody Rhodes, lost his father Dusty Rhodes last month unexpectedly after the WWE Hall of Famer took a fall and died from natural causes due to illness. The loss of Rhodes shocked the wrestling community, with tributes pouring out from all over the world as testament’s to his impact.
While Stardust’s brother Goldust shared his initial thoughts on social media, Stardust was largely quiet for several days. However, following the funeral services held for the departed-Rhodes, Stardust took to social media to share his eulogy for his father.
“You were a cowboy of the old republic,” part of the eulogy read. “The last bastion of Southern wrestling, a master orator who spit fire, but if the question was ever posed to you…what would you rather have, fame or family? Family. Always family. Getting over with your family and extended family trumped all. You were a world-class family man.”
The good news is, it appears the time for grieving is nearly over.
According to a report from PWInsider, Stardust is expected to return to WWE television next week. It is unsure what the fate of his character or gimmick will be, as often, real-life circumstances can effect how a character is booked. He has not been seen on television since his father’s death, where just before WWE had been putting an angle in motion for him at “SummerSlam.”
WWE has expected to have the former Intercontinental Champion square off with television’s Stephen Amell at the big summer event, as the groundwork had been laid for a match. However, recent reports suggest the match will no longer happen, for reasons uncertain at this moment in time.
Whether this means he will be involved in “SummerSlam” at all or not remains to be seen.
Editor’s Note
It will be good to have him back. Excited to see what he does.
