TNA Wrestling has been marred in the wrestling tabloids as of late, as the company struggles to maintain its stars and has found itself in difficult standing regarding finding a new television home. However, it seems there will be a major shift in focus going forward within the company.
According to reports from both Talk Is TNA and PWInsider, the company is putting its live events on indefinite hiatus. Live event attendance has been poor for the company, with most shows only drawing a few hundred fans at most, with many speculating the company to be losing money on them.
In addition to the report, it is said more staff cuts were made this past week, with many taking place in the live event department.
With the events on hiatus, Dixie Carter is now expected to put emphasis on securing a television deal for the future, with that being the primary emphasis going forward. It has already been noted Spike will not be renewing its contract with the company after this year, and only VELOCITY’s name has come up in discussions. Should the company sign with the small network, it will require a major scale back across the board financially.
The company will be holding tapings this weekend and next week, then will not tape again until “Bound For Glory” in October. This year’s pay-per-view will take place in Japan, and it is unknown at this time how that will affect it being viewed in the United States.
Editor’s Note
It’s bad, man. I hate to see a company going under like this, but the ship is sinking.
