Former ECW, WWE and TNA star Tommy Dreamer recently attacked those on the Internet who pirate and illegally stream wrestling content, becoming vocal about the disservice they were doing to the business.
Apparently, his comments did not strike a chord with one fan.
English outlet ITV is reporting a 55-year-old British man was arrested recently after it was discovered he illegally uploaded and pirated thousands of videos of WWE content online. The man’s identity has not been released.
According to the report, the Coalville-native was arrested by Leicestershire police when authorities found out he uploaded 3.2 terabytes, the equivalent of 3,000 videos, without WWE’s licensed permission. WWE Senior Vice President Jim Langham issued a statement on the arrest:
“We will continue to protect our intellectual property aggressively and combat piracy in any form.”
An official from the police department also issued comment:
“Our team is dedicated to combating criminals ripping off other’s intellectual property and so those who are thinking of taking this path should think twice, as it might result in a knock on the door from our officers.”
Several computers were reportedly seized from the man’s home during the arrest.
Editor’s Note
My question: why do this when everything is available on the WWE Network for just $9.99?
