WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross received rave reviews in his return to the airwaves for Global Force Wrestling’s “Wrestle Kingdom 9” earlier this year. It had been his first pro wrestling show since leaving WWE in 2013, which prompted speculation he would be returning for more.
Ross fueled the fire last week, when he noted he had been in talks with Jeff Jarrett to become the voice of GFW:
“Getting lots of questions about what’s next for Global Force Wrestling and I expect Jeff Jarrett to address this matter after WrestleMania. However if he does to a series of TV tapings I do think that doing them in Las Vegas is a splendid idea. Begs the question, if Jeff actually is planning on taping TV, could a network deal be too far behind? Yes, Jeff and I are talking but there is no “deal” on the table at this time.”
However, it appears that hope for many wrestling fans may be short-lived. As revealed on his blog Saturday, Ross is unlikely to call wrestling for the remainder of 2015.
He posted the following regarding his endeavors this year:
“My management team’s plan for me is to do play by play gigs in 2015 but likely none or very little in pro wrestling. No door is closed but there are simply more options in boxing and MMA.”
While he doesn’t entirely close the door on it, a commitment to GFW would likely be more than “very little.” With that said, it appears unlikely Ross will do much substantial with Jarrett’s company.
Editor’s Note
A bummer if true, as his voice is sorely missed. But he’s great at what he does, and will utilize himself in a proper manner.
