TNA star Jeff Hardy has made a career out of death-defying stunts and crazy jumps from the top rope. But the man known for being an enigma proved to be mortal in April when he injured himself, putting himself off TNA television for the foreseeable future.
Hardy broke his leg in a biking accident, injuring it severely enough he had to be pulled from wrestling in the midst of a tag team championship run with his brother Matt. It was officially diagnosed as a broken tibia, which TNA president Dixie Carter eventually commented on herself.
Video of the accident can be found below. Viewer discretion is advised:
The good news for Hardy, however, is that he seems to be well on the road to recovery. In fact, he may be able to return to wrestling relatively soon.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, the plan is for Hardy to return before the summer starts winding down. The Hardys were both booked for the Northeast Wrestling show on Aug. 1, but have both since pulled out. It is Meltzer’s belief this is an indication Jeff will be ready to work once more in a TNA ring. TNA will be running television tapings on July 29 and Aug. 1, where both Hardys will be present now.
However, it is possible Jeff does not return on this date. If that is the case, Meltzer notes he almost for sure will return at the next set of television tapings. Those though, given the uncertain state of “IMPACT WRESTLING” on Destination America, may be the final ones the company has on the network. That remains to be seen, however.
Editor’s Note
Glad to see his making a good recovery. His health is important for the company, no matter what his age is. He can still draw money because of his style.
