Multiple sources are reporting that Matt and Jeff Hardy will be returning to WWE very soon–perhaps even on Sunday. With a triple threat ladder match set to go down between Raw’s top tag teams, there’s even a perfect venue for their return.
But in a recent CBS Sports interview, Jeff was playing coy about that return. “Knowing they’re going to have a ladder match,” he said, “makes me think: why aren’t we in that? Because we should be. Oh well, maybe next year.”
But when the interviewer pressed him a bit more directly about the rumored WWE return, Jeff responded in no uncertain terms about whether they’d be at WrestleMania. “No, because you have to go through so much testing and all of that. It’s a long process. But, no. We know some people there and naturally, after WrestleMania dies down, maybe a couple of months from now, we’ll see what’s possible. But there is no truth to that whatsoever.”
So there you have it, folks. Jeff himself says there’s “no truth” to the rumors of a WWE return “whatsoever.”
Yeah, we don’t buy it either. Nobody would be mad over the lie if they were to show up Sunday or Monday, and they’d be far better served in keeping the secret by outright denial than a coy refusal to answer the question.
Naturally, nothing is confirmed until they hit the ring, and it’s always possible that the talk of a return could be just talk. But with a variety of reliable inside sources having talked up that return now for weeks and months on end, the smart money is with it actually happening.
