It’s the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania, and Fastlane promises to answer some of the biggest questions we’ve had going into WWE’s biggest show. All of Raw’s titles are on the line—aside from the US Championship and its sadly-wrecked owner—so there’s a lot at stake for the red brand’s biggest stars.
There’s a lot of cynicism to be offered regarding Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. After all, they are two Vince McMahon specials: giant dudes built for power and feats of strength rather than straight-up wrestling. Yet both had been part of some great matches, and Strowman has been one of the most effectively booked monsters WWE has put together in years. Plus, there was reason to speculate that the Undertaker might become involved, setting up a WrestleMania match against Roman.
But that interference never happened. Instead, Roman and Strowman had a brawl that could only be described as hellacious, with the two men beating the hell out of each other. Strowman put Roman through the Spanish announce table with a running powerslam, and even kicked out of a spear before attempting a top rope splash. In the end, though, another spear put down Strowman for the 1, 2, 3.
