During a pre-recorded WWE Business Partner presentation which aired on WWE’s corporate website on April 15, Stephanie McMahon confirmed that a new WWE logo will debut by August of 2014. The new logo will be the WWE design that is currently featured on the WWE Network and promos for WrestleMania 31.
The image, which can be seen above, shows WWE logos from “then, now, and forever,” with the new logo featured above “forever.” This will be the new branding for the company moving forward.
Rumors about a logo change have been running rampant since the new symbol began appearing in promotional material for the WWE Network. Now that the debut of the new logo is coming in 2014, we will soon see it on everything WWE produces, including ring aprons, turnbuckle pads, lower-thirds, marketing materials, etc.
It is also likely that the company will debut a new WWE World Heavyweight Championship that displays the new logo by August as well. The rumor is that the new championship belt will replace the former two titles which currently belong to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. The design of the title will likely mirror the latest WWE Championship design, but will feature the new logo in the center.
The latest WWE title is only a year old, and features interchangeable side-plates, which makes marketing replica and toy championship belts more lucrative. The more superstars someone wants to represent while “holding the title,” the more custom side-plates one would need to buy.
Editor’s Note: Good. It’s about time we get some kind of confirmation on a new logo. We’ve been waiting on the news since we saw the new branding on the Network and WrestleMania 31 ads. I like it. A cleaned up version of the “scratch” logo. Good move. I’m also ready to see one title again instead of the two, just like we saw in 2002. IMO, it’s time to unify the IC and US belts as well. The US title is useless.
Oh…and that’s NOT the logo from “then.” Now that they can show and say WWF again…why is that still the fake Golden Era logo? C’mon son.
