The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on the company’s plans for Deam Ambrose and Roman Reigns moving forward. The thought backstage is that The Shield is no more, and both men will now be moving on with Singles careers without the company addressing a break-up on live TV.
When Seth Rollins turned his back on The Shield during the June 2 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” many questioned what would become of the other two members of the group. While the two appeared on WWE TV together the week of June 9, Ambrose and Reigns officially kicked off their Singles careers during the June 16 edition of “Monday Night Raw.”
A new entrance theme has been given to both Rollins and Ambrose, solidifying their separation from The Shield. However, WWE has no plans to openly “end” The Shield on television. There will likely not be a segment on WWE TV that sees Ambrose and Reigns officially terminate The Shield, with WWE officials believing that the group died when Rollins hit Reigns with a steel chair on June 2.
Ambrose, now sporting jeans and a tank top as his ring gear, will likely be featured in the traditional Money in the Bank Ladder Match at “Money In The Bank” on June 29 opposite Seth Rollins. The traditional Money in the Bank Ladder Match was announced on WWE “Main Event” by Rollins on June 17, where he also revealed that he is currently the only confirmed contestant in that match. Ambrose and Rollins are set to engage in a feud that will likely last until “SummerSlam” in August.
Reigns was victorious in a Battle Royal during the June 16 edition of “Monday Night Raw” and has been added to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match at “Money In The Bank” on June 29. Reigns is then set to feud with Randy Orton and Triple H moving forward, with a match against Triple H currently penciled in for “SummerSlam” on Aug. 17.
Editor’s Note:
Ok cool. The Shield was a trio anyway and doesn’t need to run as a twosome. Let’s get these Singles careers up-and-running!
