The Godfather is returning to the ring full-time. The Godfather, real name Charles Wright, has announced that he wants to compete on a full-time basis again, and that promoters can book him for appearances by contacting Joe DeFalco at [email protected].
Wright wrestled for the WWE as a number of personas off-and-on for eleven years before parting ways with the company in 2002. As per recommendation by his friend Mark Calaway, The Undertaker, Wright was brought into the company in 1991 and appeared as Sir Charles, Papa Shango, Kama “The Supreme Fighting Machine,” and Kama Mustafa before settling in as The Godfather in 1998.
He only changed gimmicks one time after ’98, going from The Godfather to The Goodfather while being a part of the faction Right to Censor. Wright has appeared sporadically on WWE TV since ’02 as The Godfather, even making a brief appearance in the 2013 Royal Rumble in January.
Wright also manages a Las Vegas strip club named Cheetah’s. Apparently he will make appearances as any of his former characters, such as Papa Shango, if booked and paid for.
