Former TNA talent Jesse Sorensen has suffered another injury. The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Sorensen, who was almost paralyzed after breaking his neck a few years ago while working for TNA, suffered a fractured ankle during a match on May 17 in Sanford, Fla.
The report states that Sorensen’s foot got caught in the mat while performing a suplex when his ankle snapped. He will have to have surgery and will not compete in the ring for an undisclosed amount of time.
Sorenson made headlines last year when he was released by TNA Wrestling. A few days following being let go from the company, a “GoFUNDme” page was created for the superstar, in order to raise funds for Sorenson to compete in a bodybuilding competition. On the site, Sorenson seemingly claimed that TNA president Dixie Carter had lied to him about his job security with TNA Wrestling, saying,
“My name is Jessy Sorensen(Jesse Sorensen) I am a former professional wrestler for TNA Impact Wrestling seen every thursday night on SpikeTV. On Feb.12th 2012 during a live match on pay per view vs Zema Ion I suffered a sever neck injury sustaining a broke C-1 vertebrae & herniated C-5 & C-6.
After a long recovery process & being promised by the President of TNA Impact Wrestling TNA Dixie Carter I would always have a job with her company, I recently was released from my current contract & shown that those promises were false.
During my time away from the ring I decided to pursue bodybuilding & have been prepping for the Hurricane Bay bodybuilding show in Tampa, FL on Oct.5th,2013 but now due to my recent released I will have to drop out of my show.”
Sorenson would then go on a few days later to say that he didn’t actually say those things, but that a friend had written them for him. Shortly thereafter, Sorenson began wrestling again, competing for companies such as Ring of Honor.
Editor’s Note:
Ugh. That just sounds painful. We wish him a speedy recovery!
