According to a new report from the Associated Press and Yahoo Sports, El Hijo del Perro Aguayo’s death may be tried as manslaughter if the case gets to court. As previously reported, Perro Aguayo, real name Pedro Ramirez, passed away in the early morning hours of March 21 following an in-ring tragedy the previous evening. He was 35 years-old.
According to the report, The Baja California state prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into possible manslaughter. While the report claims the manslaughter investigation as been opened, it does not say who would be deemed responsible for Ramirez’s death in the process.
Former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio was the man attacked by online reports for being the culprit, though the accident was merely that, an in-ring accident. Ramirez suffered an injury to his trachea during the set up for Mysterio’s “619” maneuver.
CRASH, the promotion that put on the event on March 20, will likely be the liable party if manslaughter is pressed. The promotion has yet to comment on the matter in question.
Ramirez was rushed from the Municipal Auditorium to Del Prado hospital in Mexico after he was removed from the ring. He was then reportedly stabilized at the hospital after losing consciousness, before slipping back into critical condition and being pronounced dead at 1 a.m. on March 21.
WrestlingRumors.net continues to express our condolences to his family, friends, and those involved in the match.
